I got pulled over by the NYPD a few hours ago while trying to pick up my girlfriend from the Botanical Garden MTA/Metro-North stop in the Bronx. I had driven to the wrong side and was circling around to get her when I noticed a cop car slide in behind me. A few seconds later…boom. Police lights were on.
Three cops surrounded my car, asked for my license and registration, and hit me with, “Do you own a Volkswagen?” I told them I did, but I sold it back in February...OF 2024!!! They also asked me to roll down all my windows, probably checking to see if I smelled like weed. Who knows.
Everything’s current: registration, insurance, inspection. But apparently, their system still thinks my plates belong to the old car. The DMV system they use is still running on Windows 95… or maybe floppy disks. Either way, the information they have is outdated.
No ticket. Just a verbal warning and a reminder why I keep it simple with law enforcement. I said as little as possible and stuck to RULE #1: Don’t talk to the police.
It’s never fun getting pulled over at night by the po-po. Especially when your GPS says “turn left” and the cops say “pull over.”
